CALIPSO deployed from Delta rocket

The Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations (CALIPSO) spacecraft is released from the Boeing Delta 2 rocket's second stage, beginning its mission that will generate a global picture of aerosol particles suspended in the atmosphere.
