Spacewalking astronauts flying untethered from shuttle Discovery as they tested a new safety jetpack was a visual highlight of the STS-64 mission. The September 1994 flight also tested a laser system for studying the Earth's environment, called the Lidar in Space Technology Experiment, launched and retrieved the Spartan solar wind satellite and used a long boom to measure the plumes from the shuttle's thrusters. The crew shows the post-flight movie and slides in this presentation.
