Because the next shuttle mission, STS-124, will launch the massive Kibo science laboratory and the heat shield inspection boom won't fit in Discovery's payload bay, the Endeavour astronauts will leave their boom on the station. In this animation narrated by flight director Mike Moses, an inspection of Endeavour's wings and nose cap will be performed on Flight Day 12 to look for space debris hits, a task normally done after undocking.
