The 50-foot-long space shuttle heat shield inspection boom is retrieved from its stowage location on the station truss structure. The boom was anchored there for the last two months having been left by the shuttle Endeavour crew in March because the Kibo science laboratory module launched aboard Discovery was too large for the sensor platform to be carried as well.
