With a knife in hand, Oleg Kononenko has begun cutting the multi-layer thermal shielding insulation on the Soyuz spacecraft to gain access to the separation system equipment inside. After trying to stick his hand into the Soyuz, Moscow tells Kononenko cut more of the insulation and make the hole larger to give more room for reaching the pyrobolt.
