STS-126: The ferryflight begins

Space shuttle Endeavour leaves Edwards Air Force Base, California, at 7:08 a.m. local time Dec. 10 to begin a cross-country piggyback ride atop a modified 747 carrier jet. The shuttle's STS-126 space station construction mission landed at the Mojave Desert base 10 days earlier.
