Pluto New Horizons: Erecting Atlas 5 rocket's first stage

The first stage of Lockheed Martin's Atlas 5 rocket to launch the Pluto New Horizons spacecraft is erected atop the mobile launching platform at the Vertical Integration Facility vehicle assembly building at Cape Canaveral's Complex 41. The stage is powered by the Russian-designed, dual-nozzle RD-180 main engine.
