Pluto New Horizons: Adding the Atlas 5 strap-on solid rocket boosters

Pluto New Horizons needs as much launch energy as possible to begin its journey from Earth to the distant reaches of the outer solar system. The Atlas 5 will use five strap-on solid rocket boosters to provide significantly more thrust at liftoff.
