New Horizons: The launch experience

Watch the Lockheed Martin launch team do its job and then the Atlas 5 roar to orbit in this expanded movie of the New Horizons liftoff. The movie begins when the countdown resumes from the T-minus 4 minute hold point as the Atlas team shifts into high gear for the hectic last minutes of preparations for launch. The main engine fires to life and then the five solid rocket boosters light. Less than 11 minutes later, the Centaur second stage puts New Horizons into its initial orbit.
